Why reading matters

Reading widely is the single most powerful thing a student can do for their English. It builds vocabulary, shows them how good writers hook a reader, and gives them ideas for their own writing – exactly the skills tested in Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint and, later, IGCSE.

Buying the books

Each book has a “Buy this book” button, which is an affiliate link to Bookshop.org UK (UK delivery only). If you buy through it, Thorogood English earns a small commission at no extra cost to you, and independent bookshops benefit too. Outside the UK? All of these books are easy to find – try Kinokuniya, MPH, Popular or BookXcess in Malaysia, your school library or your local bookshop.
