These terms apply when you buy or download a resource from thorogoodenglish.com. Please read them before you place an order. By completing checkout, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Thorogood English is run by Jacqueline Thorogood, a qualified English teacher. You can contact us at jacqueline@thorogoodenglish.com.
2. What we sell
We sell digital teaching and learning resources, such as lesson slides, student workbooks and model answers, supplied as downloadable files (for example PowerPoint .pptx, Word .docx or PDF). Each product page describes what is included and the file types.
To open the files you will need suitable software, such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Word. They can also be opened in free alternatives such as Google Slides and Google Docs, but some formatting and fonts may display differently.
Our resources are written independently to support the Cambridge IGCSE First Language English syllabus. They are not produced, approved or endorsed by Cambridge University Press & Assessment. We cannot guarantee any particular exam result.
3. Prices and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). The price you pay is the price shown in your basket at checkout. If you pay in another currency, your bank or card provider may add exchange fees.
Payment is taken securely at checkout through PayPal, including card payments processed by PayPal. We never see or store your full card details.
4. Your order
When you place an order, you will receive an email confirming it. Our contract with you is formed when we send that confirmation.
5. Delivery of your files
Your download links are available as soon as payment is complete. They are sent to you by email, and you can also find them at any time under My Account → Downloads. If you have any problem downloading your files, email jacqueline@thorogoodenglish.com and we will help.
6. Your right to cancel
Under UK consumer law, you normally have 14 days to cancel an online purchase. For digital content, this right ends once the download starts, as long as you agreed to this before buying.
At checkout you will be asked to confirm that you want access to your files immediately and that you understand you lose your right to cancel once your download begins. This does not affect your rights if a resource is faulty (see section 7) or our Refund Policy.
7. If something is wrong
If a file is faulty, will not open, or does not match its description, please contact us at jacqueline@thorogoodenglish.com. We will repair or replace it, and if we cannot, we will give you a full or partial refund. These rights come from the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and are not affected by these terms.
8. How you may use the resources (licence)
When you buy or download a resource, you receive a licence to use it. Copyright stays with Jacqueline Thorogood.
You may:
- use the resource with your own classes, tutees or children, or for your own study;
- print and photocopy pages for those students;
- edit and adapt the files for your own teaching.
You may not:
- share, forward or upload the files for others to use, including on shared school drives used by other teachers, websites or social media;
- sell, resell or give away the resources, in original or edited form;
- present the resources as your own work.
Each licence is for one teacher, tutor or household. If you would like to use a resource across a department or school, please email jacqueline@thorogoodenglish.com to ask about a school licence.
Free resources are covered by the same licence.
9. Our responsibility to you
We take care to make our resources accurate and useful, but we cannot accept responsibility for losses that were not foreseeable, or for losses caused by how the resources are used. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so.
10. Your information
We use your details only to process your order, deliver your files and contact you about your purchase. Please see our Privacy Policy for more information.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this page when you place your order is the one that applies to that order.
12. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
