Masterclasses
Thorogood English Masterclasses are intensive, focused sessions designed to give students a significant boost in a specific area — in a single afternoon. They’re ideal for students who are already receiving tuition (or studying independently) and want to go deeper on something in particular, or for students who just need a concentrated burst of targeted preparation before exams.
How Masterclasses Work
Each Masterclass runs for approximately 3 hours online via Zoom, with a short break in the middle. Groups are kept very small — no more than 8 students — to ensure everyone gets genuine engagement and the session doesn’t feel like a lecture. Students are expected to participate actively, not just observe.
Every Masterclass includes: a focused teaching session, worked examples, guided practice, and a set of take-home materials to consolidate what was covered. Participants leave with clear, actionable improvements to implement in their own study.

Who Are Masterclasses For?
Masterclasses are open to any student preparing for IGCSE, A-Level, or 11+ English — whether they’re enrolled in regular Thorogood English classes or not. They’re particularly useful for:

- Students in the final weeks before exams who need a targeted boost
- Students who are confident but want to push from a B to an A
